Pres. Obama's Speech to America's children



Its a sad day in our history when the President of the United States gets railroaded for encouraging our children to succeed in school. I just read his speech. I think President Obama ooozes "the American dream." The perfect person to deliver that speech to our children today. And frankly, our children need to hear it. (and so do their parents...)

I wish for the day when SOMEONE, ANYONE can bring our country back together. That we can stop fighting over every.stinking.little.thing.

Personally, I can't wait to talk to Wyatt about it after school today.

1st day 1st grade

Wyatt is back to school. Crossing our fingers that he actually likes first grade. His teacher is SUPER impressive, I really like her already. And his first day was a success other than he got "lost in the lunchroom" and missed most of second recess! Poor little guy! Tomorrow is another day - I hope they get better from here.

So after we dropped Wyatt off this morning, Steve and I were like - "hmm... free babysitting til 1:15pm?" (its early day) So we hit the Crest trail. It was the perfect escape. Other than that nagging feeling that I should be "useful", I am handling this transition ok so far. I had the same nagging feeling last year when Wyatt started K, and I think I just ignored it and just enjoyed the fact that Steve has a lot of free time (dang economy!). But I know that we all really do need to feel useful and productive to be happy and I have too much free time on my hands. So - I need to figure out my next step in life. For some reason this has been super tough for me. I think partly b/c w/Steve's free schedule its hard for me to commit my time to a job or ANYTHING that I would be tied down to. So - time for some big decisions for me... but they can wait. I already have a bunch of fun stuff planned for my days this week. lol "never do today what you can put off til tomorrow..." :)

So my house needs to be cleaned. Apparently thats my job? haha JK And I am lacking in motivation. I need pump-me-up tunes to get me through this... I created a playlist (see sidebar ---->> ) this morning of songs that get me moving, but it is sad. I could use some assist. Please add whatever songs make you move/dance/groove/happy/singalong/jump around, etc. Its a group playlist, so I think anyone can add to it. Please? Pretty please?

Saltimbanco

This show is totally mesmerizing, pure entertainment and soooo inspiring! I left believing that humans can fly and achieve the impossible. Ahhh! I LOVE Cirque Du Soleil! They are in town for 3 more days, if you haven't gone yet. The tickets are cheeeap, too! I was so surprised! We paid $35 for our balcony seats (which were great, btw)! And wth? There were TONS of empty seats! So - don't miss it! And if anyone is interested in joining Steve and I sometime Septemberish, were planning to go to Vegas and see either Ka or Zumanity. Can't get enough Cirque Du Soleil!

Wh-wh-what? It can't be August 1st already! UGH! We took our boat out for the first time this summer yesterday. We fail as boating enthusiasts...

Wyatt gives Dad the symbol for "go faster". Turns out Wyatt does have a little of his daddy in him afterall...


Thats it! We are going boating everyday til school starts to make up for this... haha

The best day of me liiiiife....

I've wanted to hike the Subway for about 15+ years. I've always heard that its great - and now I know: It just doesn't get better than this hike and our friends. What a blast we had!








Both Steve and I got holes in our shorts... (no I will not post a pic of my bum on the blog. I do have limits... I have no problem posting Steve's tight buns, however... haha)
